Very detailed but interesting and informative history

THis is very detailed history of Spain. I found in very informative and interesting. I always like to be as thorough and understanding of places as possible before visits,. I found this book gave me a great background understanding to the places in Spain we visited. Since I am not particularly a student of Spanish history per se, I will not venture to declare this among the best histories of Spain, But I found it very helpful to my understanding, and a very enjoyable read

Great intro to "la Reconquista".

This is the first history of "la Reconquista" that I have read soto qualify this review by saying that I have no other point of reference. However, I found it well written and very interesting. Because it was written over 100 years ago, there are a few archaic sentence structures that occasionally slow down the modern reader, but it is worth the effort to deal with them. The book is not overly long and is an easy read, a great introduction to this topic. The book has fueled my interest in learning more about this important period of Spanish history.
