About the Author
Albert Camuswas born in Algeria in 1913. During World War II, he joined the Resistance movement in Paris, then became editor-in-chief of the newspaper Combat during the Liberation. A novelist, playwright, and essayist, he is most famous for his novels The Stranger and The Plague. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1957.

A lyric poet in disguise

"There is no love of life without despair of life."-These words haunted me when I first read this book nearly ten years ago. I then lent it out, never to be returned. (Ahem, I've become very cautious about lending books out since then.) Anyway, I just recently repurchased this book and reread it, and I still (unlike Camus' himself) regard the LYRICAL essays herein as much more beautiful, powerful and significant than the much touted The Stranger (which I, however, like as well, only on another level.)
It's quotes like the one above and "Knowing that certain nights whose sweetness lingers will keep returning to the earth and sea after we are gone, yes, this helps us die." that make this collection of essays Camus' best work.
The Stranger is, indeed, a unique contribution to post-WWII literature. But these essays are unique as well as powerful and beautiful. My bet is that, a century from now, these essays will be remembered long after the "existentialist" vogue has long faded, as Camus' best work.
My apologies to those who worship terse, arid prose. It has its place. But it's not the stuff of truly great literature. The lyrical essays contained herein are.

Here is a compilation of the essays that Camus wrote during the entire span of his career.It is branched into 2 categories,& a final chapter dealing more personally with outlooks on life & his works.The lyrical section describes in vivid detail the places that have moved & altered his life profoundly,eloquently relating how & why.It is one of the great literary what-if's if Camus would have done poetry in verse form;judging from the fine,thin & nimble prose that impressively illustrates the simultaneous cause & effect union bet. the man & his nature,he could have been a very good lyric poet,if not a great one.The Critical essays are honest & insightful measurements on the correlation bet. the work that he deals with & it's relevance to life & art.The final section,"Camus On Himself",offer some verifiable insights into the man & his personality.This book could serve as a very impt. introduction or supplement to Camus's entire canon;one could feel very refreshed & informed after reading it.

feel the emotions and spirits permeates from the pages.
This book contains a lot of thoughts that are suprisingly
simple, yet manage to escape us in the course of everyday
life. It is about memories, places, faces and emotions of
an ordinary human being with an extraordinary talent for
life.

This book drew me in like no other. Im in love with the concept;and Jackson has stolen my heart! (Yes, I'm a sucker for bad boys.) As soon as I finished this preview, there was no question that I would buy the book. Now, having finished the full version I can definitely say out of the hundreds upon hundreds of books I've read, Poison Princess is in a tie for my favorite title. I literally can't wait for the next installment!!!!!!

Best book I have read in a long time, hands down. Kresley Cole is by far one of the most talented writers today, and this has got to be the best book she has written. Amazing writing, character building, plot, etc....I cannot say enough good about this novel. Forget that this is supposed to be a YA novel and read it, you will not be sorry! I would say the most impressive thing was the concepts behind the story, what an imagination! Must. Read. This!

Unique and a really good read

Teen Fury: Unleashed by Amanda Torrey is a YA paranormal story that focuses on a young girl who was adopted at birth and knows nothing about her birth parents. Suddenly, at the age of 15, she discovers that her birth mother is a Fury and her birth father is a God of Mercy. This discovery is earth-shattering to young Felicia and causes a lot of complications in her life. It also brings her into contact with two mysterious guys, Zane and Ryder, who are pulling her in two very different directions.
This book was a refreshing break from vampires and werewolves and Ms. Torrey managed to put a unique spin on her YA paranormal novel. The whole idea of this teenager discovering that she is the real daughter of two mythological creatures was interesting. I loved the character of Felicia. She was a perfect teenage heroine. She was caring & genuine and she had goals - like getting a grant to help the troubled teens that she mentors...but she also dealt with real teen emotions - like her anger at being laughed at and her confusion over what boy to like. The love triangle between Felicia, Zane, and Ryder provided a lot of tension and also helped Felicia (and the reader) to understand the dichotomy that she was struggling with because of the fury side and the mercy side of her genetic make-up. But I have to admit that I was on team Ryder from the moment he came into the story!
This story had a great mix of mythology, powers, adventure, and romance. I really enjoyed it and I will be reading book 2 of the series when it is released *Note - I'm assuming there will be a book 2 because there were a few things that were left unanswered for me at the end and I'd love to see how Felicia continues to handles her powers and the choices that she made while also handling high school.

Awesome read for teens!

I love a chick who kicks butt and is a tough cookie!! Well written and engaging throughout! Felicia is an awesome and refreshing change from a lot of angsty teens in most YA books. A new twist in the paranormal realm. It is nice to see Greek Mythology stepping up! Quick fun read any teen would enjoy! I hope to see more form this author. I vote for a series!!

Cover Art - Interesting but not a show stopper. It could be better especially with all the great covers in the YA market. Teens are fickle so you really need something to grab them!

This book is about a 15 year old girl named Felicia who is adopted at birth, no one ever could identify their birth parents, it's like she was materialized out of thin air, but what her adopted parents didn't know when they found her was that she wasn't only a baby, she was the daughter of two mythological creatures/gods, The Fury and The Mercy..... Luckily her life was pretty normal until she got her period for the first time and things started to change abruptly, she started to change and that's when the game begins...
I found myself pretty absorbed in the book, it's very well written and the idea is pretty original, it's not a paranormal book about mainstream creatures such as vampires, faeries, werewolfs, angels or demons, and I found that quite interesting. It's a page turner, and very easy to read and follow. I loved all the characters, and it was hard for me trying to decide which one I liked more, Zane, Ryder or Cory, despite being a huge fan of bad boys myself, in this one I have to choose Ryder! He has all that mysterious aura around him and it's like a mixture between bad boy and good boy and I'm looking forward to read more about him and Felicia in the future.
It was a great book and the only thing that made me rated it in 4 stars instead of 5 was the end, being a series it must have (IMO) a cliffhanger, something that would make me want to read the next one as soon as possible, and that wasn't what happened, the end is good and happy but I felt like it would be a perfect book if the end had something that would make the readers to count the days off until the next one.

Great value for the vast amount of information you are given!

Kyuki-Do is a combination of Taekwondo, Judo, Jujitsu, and Hapkido. Grand Master Kim came to the United States in 1967, and due to his vast knowledge of the martial arts, became the founder of Kyuki-Do. The American Kyuki-Do Federation was founded in 1979 and has been a resounding success! My instructor, Master Ken Blumreich, wrote this book (due to certain additions and changes that were made after the 2007 edition), and he will be the first to tell you it is NOT one single form...but rather a combination of forms melded together to create one unique form in and of itself. You MUST learn Korean and Japanese in order to test for green belt on up. You MUST be able to translate and not simply memorize what moves go with which words. There are tenets, pledges, and you must show respect above all else. This book is definitely worth the $45 value! I have had mine since February/March and am STILL learning. There is no way you can learn everything you need simply from a book, but this book comes as close as possible! Forms, blocks, kicks, grappling, weapons, etc...all are included...as well as Korean history and information on our founder. Before you judge a book like this, make sure you understand what you are supposed to be learning.

Ambitiously Priced! But is there anything NEW about Hapkido?

Supply and Demand. Yes, the price of this book would make one believe that there was a huge demand for the knowledge concealed within. It were raw or unique knowledge, I could understand the price. But there are dozens of books and videos that tell all there is to know about Hapkido. I suspect we shall see the price drop, and soon. Because, unless I am wrong, unless there is a hidden need for large numbers of people to own another book about the same techniques we have all witnessed and read about, the allure of INTERNET RICHES will quickly fade and the author will realize that few people are going to shell out $40+ for an eBook about Hapkido. The reasonable price range for this work? $10-20 MAX!

I like all the new pictures so it is easier to understand when we review our froms as opposed to the original book.

The only down side I have found it that when you expand the pictures it loses detail so it is hard to read.

I do likie having it onhand in my Kindle. Great for quick reference.

Causes of WWI

Informative, short explanation of how Europe drifted into WWI. Not so clear on why the US jumped in. Was it really true that we did it because President Wilson wanted to start the League of nations? As I understand Ferguson, he argues that European leaders mindlessly let events overtake them. Also, they were too dumb to grasp the seriousness of war. This does sound about right, but the common explanation--colonial rivalries, which Ferguson minimizes--might be important too. I suppose this war, like almost all wars is an exercise in stupidity. A third factor, the turmoil caused by the rise of nation states and the demise of European empires is interesting but only briefly covered. I guess I'll have to read another Ferguson book.

It always seemed like one of the more “popular” contemporary romance books on ...

This was one of those books that I had seen floating around for quite some time. It always seemed like one of the more “popular” contemporary romance books on the market but one that I never seemed to be able to get my hands on. One day I was looking through ebooks and Beautiful Bastard popped up so I said “what the hell” and bought it. And I’m so glad that I did.

The book was very accurately named. I loved that Bennett had a strong personality and that Chloe had an equally as strong personality and stood up to him so well. Individually, the two of them were extremely persistent and headstrong and together they were the perfect combination. A lot of books with strong characters usually have a more submissive female, which is perfectly okay if that's the type of dynamic they enjoy in the bedroom, but it was refreshing to see a female character as equally dominating as the male.

This book was a great change of pace and I'm really glad that I sank my teeth into it. I'm not sure if I'll continue with the series, simply because I have many other books I need to read, but I do definitely recommend Beautiful Bastard. Great read!

Straight up Mommy Porn

I don't remember why I bought this book as it isn't my usual style of romance. It started out pretty one dimensional but got better as the story went on. The one thing that did stand out in this book was the amount of sex in it. Six percent in and there was already a love scene. The amount of love scenes also made it a bit hard to get to know the characters at first but once you got about half way through I was more connected to them. Overall, it was alright. If you like a light fluffy read with lots of sex then this book is of you. I will probably stick with my paranormal Roman especially though.
