Despite what appears on the cover, this was NOT written by Patrick Griffith

In 1900, Ida Minerva Tarbell's "The Life of Abraham Lincoln" was published in two volumes. It is a highly regarded biography of our 16th President by a woman called the "dean of women authors in this country" in her 1944 obituary in the New York Times. (See first comment for link)
Patrick Griffith has appropriated her original work (now in the public domain), butchered it by rearranging and paraphrasing parts of it, and published it with HIS NAME ON THE COVER! Neither does the inside of the book correctly attribute the writing to Ms. Tarbell, as it reads "Early Life of Abraham Lincoln - Volume 1 - By Patrick Griffith".

Griffith seems to be making a habit of trying to cash in on the works of others by taking their work and self-publishing it with HIS name on the cover and the title page.
That is getting close to as slimy as it gets in the publishing world, folks.
Avoid this title and this author. He is simply a plague on intellectual honesty.

I can remember reading everything I could on Abraham Lincoln from the time I was in grade school. His humble demeanor and how he rose to become President of the United State fascinated me. Ida Tarbell, being a bit of a rebel during a time when women were expected to stay at home under the shadows of their fathers and husbands blazed a trail for women and men in the field of investigative journalism. She explored every document she could lay her hands on and did many interviews with those who knew Abraham during his younger years and early political life. This book discusses his hopes, aspirations, loves and personal tragedies. A must for anyone who enjoys the time period or just wants to know more about the man my rating is 4 1/2 stars.

Written by one of the best investigative journalists, ever

This is an excellent book with lots of carefully researched information. Written at the end of the 19th century, the author made contacts with many of Lincoln's contemporaries - priceless. This book is a keeper, particularly if you are a fan of Mr. Lincoln.
