Any Alternatives to this Book?

This book has substance. It's certainly no easy-read. Compound
and long sentences tend to be used. I'm not really surprised
since this is a book written about 60 years ago.
On page 28 (Dow Theory in Practice), "Divergences sometimes occur
at Reversals in the Major Trend - there have been several instances in
market history, in which, perhaps, the most remarkable occurred way
back in 1901 and 1902, and we shall soon inspect another - but they
also occur with equal with equal frequency at times when no Major
Reversal is developing, and the instance we are discussing here was one
of the latter." can simply be re-phrased as:
"50% of the time, divergences of Averages do not result in market
tops or bottoms."
The style of language is old. This book need not be buried. It only
needs to be revised into an easy-read edition. The King James
Version and the New International Version of the Bible both convey
the same ideas. One can reach heaven with either version. The
only difference is that one is harder to read and the other is easier
to read.
Because this book is a requirement for some examinations, can
anybody tell me where can one find the substance in the book but
learn them in a simpler and modern method?
I would appreciate it.

Avoid Kindle Edition

While this may be a very good and helpful book it is not a good book on the Kindle!
The problems are:
1. One can not read all the information on the charts! That is a big problem since the book is mainly about chart reading.
2. Text gets interrupted by figure numbers, charts, and chart text. This results in needing to skip some text to put sentences together!
3. There are a lot of errors in the text in grammar esp. for a ninth edition.
4. Some tables are missing left edge.
5. Charts require one to change kindle orientation as some read best vertical and some horizontal.
6. Very hard to flip between chart and text. Not to mention at times it is hard to tell which chart text goes with.
I wish I had just bought the hardcover!

These bad reviews have no idea what they are reviewing

I can't believe these bad reviews! It is evident these readers do not know the classic nature of this book. My only complaint is the kindle version was not kinked to the physical version. To the man who said the cost is 3x more than the paper back... The paper back verision is different. It's actually half the price of the hard back which is the same version. (I know because I own both). To the person who complained about the complex sentences.... Hum, no you can't say that 50% of the time it works and 50% it does not. That was not the intention of the sentence.
This is THE classic book on technical analysis. If you can't understand it.... You need to pay a school to hold your hand through it.
